8. The Anti-Racism of 'Sisters at Heart'

The famous “Sisters at Heart” episode of Bewitched was labeled a “groundbreaker” by USA Today for its story about racism in the post-civil rights movement. Hal Erickson of AllMovie has called the episode “refreshingly free of the patronization which usually attended ‘racially sensitive’ TV episodes of the period.”

At the 1971 Emmy Awards, the episode was awarded the Governor’s Award for outstanding achievement in the arts. Montgomery has stated that of the 254 episodes, “Sisters at Heart” was her favorite.
