2. Cassandra Who?

Originally, the main character was supposed to be called Cassandra. That never came to be, as the title character we all know and love was named Samantha. According to classic TV author Herbie J. Pilato, the name was changed because Elizabeth Montgomery thought Cassandra was “too connected to the evil witches of Greek mythology.”

We all know by now that Elizabeth Montgomery played Samantha, but did you know that wasn’t her only role on the show? She also played Samantha’s cousin, Serena (pictured above in the 1969 episode “Cousin Serena Strikes Again”), in 24 episodes.
