Before Dick York was contacted, actor Richard Crenna was offered the role of Darrin Stephens, but he did not accept the offer because he was doing another project at the time. Crenna was in the popular The Real McCoys TV show and was slated to start Slattery’s People the same year that Bewitched came on the air. Considering Slattery’s People only lasted two years, we’re thinking Crenna would have liked a magic spell to go back in time and make that decision over again.
