28. Sol Saks’ Inspiration
The creator of Bewitched was Sol Saks. He was inspired to make the sitcom after watching I Married a Witch, a fantasy romantic comedy, and Bell, Book and Candle, a romantic comedy starring Jimmy Stewart and Kim Novak. Saks was confident that he would not face any copyright issues because the two films were owned by Columbia Pictures, which also owned Screen Gems, which produced Bewitched.
