The 13th episode of the seventh season was titled “Sisters at Heart,” and it aired on Christmas Eve in 1970. The story idea and script were created by inner-city, African-American 10th graders from Jefferson High School in South Central Los Angeles. The episode revolves around two plot lines: Tabitha’s black school friend, whom she calls her “sister,” and Darrin’s interactions with a bigoted client who grows wary of working with Darrin when he thinks the African-American child is Darrin’s actual child, and thus the product of an interracial marriage. So how did critics and fans react to the episode?
