One year after Bewitched began airing on ABC, rival network NBC began airing a fantasy sitcom titled I Dream of Jeannie. Even though they were rivals, they were produced by the same film production company, Screen Gems.

Like most copycats, the original was far more popular than the derivative. I Dream of Jeannie lasted five seasons, but it never cracked higher than number 26 on the Nielsen ratings.
