After Dick York left the show, there was no Darrin for 14 episodes. The audience didn’t see Darrin again until Dick Sargent joined the cast in 1969 in the episode “Sam and the Beanstalk.” Sargent would go on to film 84 episodes up until the show’s finale.

However, Dick York was beloved by the viewers for his portrayal of Darrin. Many fans were disappointed and confused by his replacement.
